1 – Even if you do not wish to audition for an on-stage role, you are encouraged to come to auditions to learn about volunteer opportunities. You can meet the show’s Director and offer to help backstage.

2 – Generally, auditions only involve cold readings from the script. Any other audition requirements will be listed below.

2024 Auditions

 

Light Up The Sky

Directed by Melissa Vitale

Cast: 9+ males ages approximately 20-60+, 4+ women ages approximately 20-50+

Auditions:  Monday, April 22 at 7 pm. Callbacks Tuesday, April 23.

Production dates: May 30-June 8

Synopsis:  In a hotel suite in the 1940s, a temperamental leading lady, flamboyant director, low brow producer, and others await critics’ reviews of their theatrical production. Fearing a massive flop, they point fingers and lay blame. Shockingly, the show is declared a hit. With fast paced witty dialogue, this comedy follows a throng of theatrefolk as they go from friends, to enemies, to friends once again. Ah, show business!

Hello, Dolly!

Directed by Shannon Stoddard, Musical Director George Mann

Cast: 4 males ages approximately 15-65+, 5 females ages approximately 15-65+, plus large ensemble 15-65+

Auditions:  Auditions will be held at Goddard United Methodist Church, 1922 Dodson Avenue, Fort Smith, on Monday, May 13 at 7 pm. Be prepared to sing one minute of a song of your choice. You may bring sheet music, accompaniment track (Bluetooth speaker available), or sing a capella. Callbacks and cold script readings Tuesday, May 14 7 pm. Cast member read through Thursday, May 16 7 pm at Goddard. Regular evening rehearsals begin Friday, May 17.

Synopsis:  This blockbuster Broadway hit bursts with humor, romance, dancing and some of the greatest songs in musical theatre history. The romantic and comic exploits of Dolly Gallagher-Levi, turn-of-the-century matchmaker and “woman who arranges things,” entertains audiences again and again. Starring Carol Channing, the show first opened in 1964. In a recent revival, Bette Midler starred as Dolly.

 

Murder On The Orient Express

Directed by Duff Taylor

Cast: 5 males ages approximately 30-65+, 5 females ages approximately 25-75+

Auditions:  Monday, August 5 at 7 pm. Callbacks Tuesday, August 6.

Production dates: September 12-21

Synopsis:  Board the exotic Orient Express and hang on for a first class ride! In this clever, comic mystery, Agatha Christie’s most enduring novel takes the stage with a train full of suspects and an alibi for each one. Wax up your mustache, hold on to your passport, and watch Inspector Poirot solve this challenging case.

 

The Outsider

Directed by Tina Dale

Cast: 4 males ages approximately 30-60+, 3 females ages approximately 20-50+

Auditions:  Monday, October 7 at 7 pm. Callbacks Tuesday, October 8.

Production dates: November 14-23

Synopsis:  Gubernatorial candidate Ned Newley is terrified of public speaking. His poll numbers are horrible, and he seems destined to fail. But wait – his political consultant has the perfect plan! This insightful, witty comedy skewers politics and celebrates democracy. It’s funny, timely, and dare we say, entirely possible.
