Synopsis

A heart-rending southern classic, this Academy nominated story by Horton Foote, poignantly showcases the struggle of one Mrs. Carrie Watts, as she strives hard to find a way back home – to return to the small town of Bountiful, which she had to sadly leave behind so as to provide a better life for her only son Ludie.  Set in the Houston of 1950s, we see her cooped up in a tiny apartment with her over-protective son and spoiled daughter-in-law, yearning to get away from the bitterness that has now become a lifestyle in the Watts’ household.  Will she be able to set-out on her ultimate odyssey, and regain her peace and dignity…? Or will a dilapidated reality confront her to face the harsher truth…? Come on down to the Fort Smith Little Theatre as we take this emotional journey along with Mother Watts.

So come-on down and watch this OFF-SEASON SHOW, and get right into the thick of this joyful season.

A wide variety of Local Talent will be performing songs, dances, skits, and even a little bit of magic to get you all warmed-up. A perfect evening out with the entire family – we will have you bobbing your heads, singing along, laughing out loud, sighing with a calm sense of nostalgia, and cooing to the cuteness factor of some of our performers…

You do not need to reserve tickets beforehand. Just plan to be at the FSLT on anyone of the three evenings (8th, 9th, & 10th December 2011 – this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). We open our doors at 7:15 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. – and it just costs $5 per ticket when you come in. We will be serving Cookies and Cider during intermission.
